When providing nutrition to critical care patients it is imperative that feeding tubes can be clearly differentiated from I.V. lines delivering medication to the bloodstream.

Unomedical have re-designed nasogastric feeding tubes with Luer connector to comply with the new requirements to use purple colour coding. The tubes now have a purple end cap secured by a strap.
The purple colour of the end cap differentiates tubes used for the enteral route from those for other pathways. This distinction minimizes the risk of wrong route errors with oral/enteral medicines, feeds and flushes.

In addition to aiding in identification, the cap helps to avoid contamination of the port and prevents backflow from the stomach after the feeding procedure is completed. Flexible and soft strap keeps the cap in place.
